M. Night Shyamalan has gone on record saying that he's never seen Are You Afraid of The Dark. I'm inclined to believe him since he has no reason to lie about it. I'm not sure who spread the false information that he got the idea for The Sixth Sense from AYAOTD. But apparently it isn't true but people still think it is.
